ASUP VOWS TO CONTINUE NATIONWIDE STRIKE BUT "VICTORY IS AROUND THE CORNER" The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has vowed to continue its indefinite strike until the Federal Government meets its demands. The ASUP National President, Mr Anderson Ezeibe, made the union’s position known on Friday at an emergency congress held at the Federal polytechnic, Auchi in Edo. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that ASUP had on April 6 embarked on a nationwide strike. Among the demands of the union are implementation of the ASUP/FG agreement of 2010, and payment of salaries and arrears of the new minimum wage in some state-owned polytechnics. Others are implementation of the NEEDS Assessment Report of 2014 and reconstitution of governing councils of polytechnics.   A delegation of the CNO met the FME on Tuesday in furtherance of ASUP strike discussion with the government. From the look of things ASUP has communicated the acceptance offer of the release of the N15B revitalisation fund for infrastructure in the sector. They have equally communicated the acceptance of the offer of the immediate release of the arrears of the new minimum wage. The other offers as read out in the Last NEC were communicated and as well accepted by the ASUP.  As at now ASUP are at the point of implementation of the accepted offers and again, this is yet another test of integrity for the government and its officials.  They also had a meeting in the house of representatives in furtherance of the bill of the National commission for Polytechnics, they are expected the second reading latest by Tuesday next week  As at, Wed 28th April..   The Newly Appointed Executive Secretary National Board for Technical Education, Prof. Idris Muhammad BUGAJE (Former Rector) has fully resumed duty with a promise to immediately meet with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP to resolve the Strike. (Good Man doing the lord's work) Our Former Rector Prof. BUGAJE emphasised that NBTE will push for the establishment of more vocational institute to produce skilled manpower for students needed to drive the nation's economy. The Executive Secretary noted that some of the curriculum in the Nations Polytechnic have existed for over 20years which must be reviewed, he added that the board will push for the establishment of the new vocational institute to meet its global standard. Points To Take Note For Regular Registration:

1. Regular Registration ends on 27- 05- 2021. Candidates are expected to pay FULL school fees and complete their registration before the date specified above.  Candidates will be charged a penalty fee of N5,000 during late registration. A period of two (2) weeks is given for late registration which commences immediately after the expiration of the registration period. No candidate shall be registered thereafter. Fee schedule can be downloaded from the website. 2. At the time of registration, you MUST produce the following documents, failure of which your place will be offered to another candidate: a. This letter of offer of admission and the original of all certificate(s) of examination(s) passed five years ago and beyond or originals of official statement(s) of result for examination(s) passed in the last four years.  b. The original and photocopy of your Birth Certificate or Sworn Declaration of Age c. Evidence of payment of Acceptance and Registration Fees d. A medical Cert

The National Association Of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) at the emergency NEC MEETING held today in Abuja  has issued 48 hours ultimatum to Federal Government and ASUP to end the nation wide strike else face the wrath of Nigerian Students. ASUP STRIKE UPDATES TUES 27 APRIL, 2021

  The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics will be meeting today with the Federal Government on Tue 27 April, 2021 (today), this meeting is to discuss the Union's demand. The ASUP President said that  they've received some offers from the Federal Government but are waiting for certain things to be done before they can present it to the NEC for consideration. ASUP NEC meeting would determine the Resumption of academic activities only if the NEC approve the considerations of the FG offers.
